GETTING STARTED IN YOUR DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSE
Thank you for registering for an online course for the upcoming semester. Online learning requires that you be self-reliant, organized, and prepared. the following checklist will get you ready for your class!
TODAY:
- Assess your computer and Internet capabilities. You must have daily reliable Internet access.
- MyOnline Portal is a website that is the gateway to access your online course and more.
Login to MyOnline Portal at https://myonlineportal.minnesota.edu - Locate the My Email icon (this is your college e-mail account) in MyOnline Portal
- Log onto your account (login information is on the MyOnline Portal login page)
- Read the mail sent to your college e-mail
- Return often and read new mail at least every few days
- Locate the schedule listed in MyOnline Portal
- Check the dates when your course begins
- Locate the online bookstore link to order course texts and materials.
SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE YOUR COURSE STARTS:
- Login to the online portal again and locate the My Courses icon.
- click and find your course link
- Read the instructions posted by your instructor.
STAY IN TOUCH EVERYDAY WHEN YOUR COURSE STARTS:
- Login and practice in your online course.
- Read the mail sent to your college email.
